Public CSLB records

Build your bid list from verified records

Search the California contractor directory, add the subs and vendors you're considering, and see each one's license, bond, and workers' comp status on one screen before you send out bid invitations. Export to CSV or a due-diligence PDF.

Your list is saved in this browser, 0 contractors.

Search for the subs and vendors you're considering and build a bid list with live license, bond, and workers' comp flags on each one.

Vet the bid list before you award the work

By the time a sub is on site, it's late to discover their license lapsed or their workers' comp was cancelled. The cheapest moment to catch a compliance problem is while you're still building the bid list. This tool lets you assemble that list from verified public records and see the three conditions that matter, active license, contractor bond, workers' compensation, on every candidate at once.

Search, add, compare

Add contractors by name or license number and they drop into a single table with their compliance flag and any review reasons. A Verified row is clean; a Review or Alert row tells you precisely what to confirm. The list stays in your browser between visits, so you can build it up as bids come in.

Hand it off

When the list is ready, export a CSV for your estimating system or a due-diligence PDF to attach to a project file or send to an owner. Need to check a list you already have rather than build one? Paste it into the bulk CSLB checker instead.

Frequently asked questions

What is the bid list builder?

A free research tool for general contractors and estimators. Search the California contractor directory, add the subs and vendors you're considering to a shortlist, and see each one's live license, contractor bond, and workers' compensation status before you send out bid invitations.

Is my list saved?

Yes, your list is saved in your own browser, so it's there when you come back, but it is not stored on a Prelien account in this tool. You can clear it at any time. Export to CSV or a due-diligence PDF to keep a copy in your project files.

Where do the compliance flags come from?

Each contractor is summarized from the public California CSLB record using the same model as a Prelien profile: Verified, Review, or Alert. A Review or Alert flag tells you exactly which condition, an expiring license, a cancelled bond, no active workers' comp, to confirm before you award work.

Can I export the list?

Yes. Download a CSV of the whole list, or a multi-contractor due-diligence PDF with a summary table and one factual section per contractor, useful for vetting a whole bid list at once and saving it to a project file.
