Editorial Policy

How we keep contractor profiles objective, data-driven, and free of pay-to-play.

Objectivity and Independence

Prelien does not accept payment from any contractor, surety company, insurance carrier, or third party for favorable placement, enhanced profiles, modified compliance health statuses, or preferential positioning in search results.

All contractor profiles are generated from the same CSLB data source using the same automated methodology, applied equally to every licensee in the database. No manual overrides, editorial exceptions, or paid modifications are made to individual profiles.

Data Sourcing Standards

All contractor data published on Prelien is sourced from the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB), a state regulatory agency under the California Department of Consumer Affairs.

We do not use third-party data aggregators, user-submitted reviews, or unverified sources for any data field displayed on contractor profiles. If a data field cannot be sourced from CSLB, it is not displayed.

Compliance Content Standards

Prelien's compliance guides and educational content reference California Civil Code sections directly, with links to the full statutory text on the California Legislative Information website (leginfo.legislature.ca.gov), and is reviewed for accuracy before publication.

Prelien does not provide legal advice. Our compliance content is educational and informational. Contractors, subcontractors, and property owners should consult a licensed California attorney for advice specific to their situation.

Corrections

If you identify an error on Prelien, whether in a contractor profile, a compliance guide, or any other published content, contact us at hello@prelien.co. We will investigate and correct verified errors promptly.
